SKF has launched the Silent series of super-precision angular contact ball bearings (ACBB) for the production of grease-lubricated spindles. The Silent series of super-precision angular contact ball bearings were developed in response to a key issue faced by machine tool spindle manufacturers: minimizing noise and vibration levels during operation.
The bearing cage in a low-speed spindle will make a rattling noise during rotation, which is normal but may be mistaken for a failure of the spindle or its components. SKF Product Manager Ru Gong said, “The SKF Silent series uses a new innovative ball-centered polyamide cage that minimizes ‘cage rattle’ during rotation, and the silent operation increases end-user comfort. Confidence in spindle quality”.
SKF Silent series bearings are fast and cost-effective to install. The bearings have optimized tolerance ranges on the inner bore and outer diameter, which improves load distribution between bearings when installed in sets. Not only does it improve spindle efficiency, but also users are verified and less time spent selecting the right bearing during testing.
SKF Silent series bearings are available in two designs, the high-capacity D-type design 719 and 70 series, which have very high system stiffness and high power density in a compact design, and the high-speed E-type design 70 series, which can be used in a wide range of jobs. Demonstrates excellent thermal stability over the speed range.
Rugong said, “SKF’s experts help our customers make better product choices based on the value they want to create for their business. We also provide bearing calculation tools such as SimPro Spindle, so our customers can more easily design their spindles.” Choose the right bearing”.
